Maralal International Camel Derby
The Maralal Camel Derby is an annual event, held every year just outside of Maralal town. This is Kenya’s best known and most prestigious camel race, attracting both local and international competitors. The event is a major draw for spectators as well as racers, and the competition is fierce.
Many local professional camel racers come to compete each year. Some of the finest racing camels are seen in town during the race period. The race is a great social event, and the major event on the Maralal Calendar.

Day 1 Nairobi-Maralal
Day 2 Maralal
Day 3 Maralal-Nairobi
Day 1: Leave Nairobi early in the morning we drive to Maralal via Nyahururu. On arrival we camp in the town and later in the evening enjoy a bonfire, night stories and games.
Day 2: Maralal International Camel Derby event Full day.
Day 3: Today we depart late morning for Nairobi with a stop over at the Thomson Falls Lodge for Lunch. Later we drive back to Nairobi, arriving at around 18:00 hrs or later depending on the time we leave Maralal.
